Global Perspectives: Imagining and Representing Southeast Asia in Art东南亚艺术与图像的世界视角
An international academic symposium conceived, organised and chaired by Hu Chao, developed from his research for Bali Island: Art and the World Beyond the Rainforest. Artists, scholars, collectors and arts organisers discussed the images, journeys and relationships connecting Southeast Asia, China and the wider world.
由胡超策划、组织并主持的国际学术研讨会，以《巴厘岛：雨林外的艺术与世界》的展览研究为基础，邀请艺术家、学者、收藏者与艺术机构负责人，从图像、行旅及具体交往出发，讨论东南亚、中国与更广阔世界之间的艺术联系。

Hu Chao developed the symposium’s concept, designed its themes and discussion structure, and brought the participants together. Through several months of preparation, he shaped a programme connecting historical case studies with artists’ experiences, collection histories and contemporary curatorial practice.
胡超构思会议主题，设计议题与讨论结构，并负责召集参与者、组织及主持会议。经过数月筹备，他将展览研究中的历史个案，与艺术家的切身经验、收藏历史及当代策展实践组织成相互联系的讨论。
Programme topics ranged from the 1952 Bali journey and Covarrubias’s exchanges with China to See Cheen Tee’s family archive, performance art and contemporary artists’ experiences. Short presentations, an artist conversation and roundtables brought these materials and perspectives into a shared discussion.
议题从1952年巴厘岛行旅、珂佛罗皮斯与中国的往来，延伸到许振第的家族档案、行为艺术史及当代艺术家的经验。短篇发言、艺术家对谈与圆桌讨论，使这些材料和视角进入同一讨论现场。

Southeast Asian Images in a Global Perspective世界视角下的东南亚图像
Journeys to Bali, images of Nanyang and artists’ accounts of island life offered different ways of seeing Southeast Asia. The session connected the art histories of the 1930s–1950s with contemporary practice, including performance art and fieldwork in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
从巴厘岛行旅、南洋图像到艺术家对岛屿生活的观察，本场讨论东南亚被看见与被描绘的不同方式，将1930至1950年代的艺术史与行为艺术、印尼及巴布新几内亚的田野经验联系起来。

Artists’ networks, family archives, comics, painting education and the work of galleries brought the discussion to the relationships that sustain artistic exchange. The session considered how regional art histories are written through personal records, institutions and encounters across borders.
