Drawing on the Friendly Spirit exhibition and the histories of twenty-five artist groups, this paper traces changing artistic practices and organisational forms in Vietnam between 1975 and 2020. It considers academic traditions, local society, commercial pressures, experimentation and international exchange.

广州美术学院美术馆“友谊精神”展是国内第一个专门呈现越南艺术历史的研究展,对越南自1975年至2020年间的25个重要艺术团体进行了研究回顾。围绕这一展览并对照中国同一时期艺术进程,文章提出越南当代艺术可以划分为三个阶段。第一个阶段起步于上个世纪80年代到90年代,特点是反思学院模式的影响和回应西方思潮的冲击;2000年头十年左右为第二个阶段,先后经历了关注本土社会和传统,应对商业思潮对艺术的冲击,随后发展出以艺术进入公共空间为抵制的策略。最近十年至今为第三个阶段,越南当代艺术强调多元题材和对多种材料的探索, 并广泛参与国际交流合作。
