## Abstract

The art and design education in China has been developed upon the long⁃standing tradition of plastic art forms. The pedagogical training that is built around plastic skills to depict human bodies still dominates the public understanding of art. This paper chooses two new courses in an art academy to illustrate how “body” is taught as a medium of artistic conceptualization and expression. This new approach deviates from the teaching of body in the plastic tradition hence provides new perspectives on how public understanding of contemporary art can be integrated into the art and design education.

## 摘要

艺术设计类教学的传统视觉训练,强调以人体或者说“身体”为核心的造型能力,但学生进入艺术类院校以后,却需要不断反思甚至背离这一传统,学院内讨论的当代艺术和设计概念与传统造型观念之间存在着彼此脱节的现象。部分艺术院校围绕“身体”认知开设的新兴课程有望改变这一现状,强调“身体”不再是观察和再现的对象,而是表达艺术思考和认知社会关系的媒介,通过造型传统和当代艺术观念中共同的“身体”概念,将传统训练和对当代社会观念的思考结合起来。这种通过“身体的教学”引入当代艺术概念的做法,对服装、建筑等其他艺术与设计专业都有借鉴意义。
