Through several months of preparation, he shaped a programme connecting historical case studies with artists’ experiences, collection histories and contemporary curatorial practice. Programme topics ranged from the 1952 Bali journey and Covarrubias’s exchanges with China to See Cheen Tee’s family archive, performance art and contemporary artists’ experiences. Short presentations, an artist conversation and roundtables brought these materials and perspectives into a shared discussion. The session connected the art histories of the 1930s–1950s with contemporary practice, including performance art and fieldwork in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Roundtable moderator: Yi Ying Afternoon session ### Artistic Exchanges across China, Southeast Asia and the Global South Artists’ networks, family archives, comics, painting education and the work of galleries brought the discussion to the relationships that sustain artistic exchange. The session considered how regional art histories are written through personal records, institutions and encounters across borders.
